Christina Cappon

My name is Christina Cappon. I have been married to my husband, Joe, for 20 years. Together we have been blessed with 7 children, six daughters, and then . . . (after 17.5 years) a son! We were both public schooled but felt called to homeschool our family when our firstborn was in PreK and we have stayed on that path for nearly 15 years. Our desire as a couple is to reflect Christ and his church by our marriage, and point our children to truth, nurturing them toward a personal relationship with Jesus by our parenting. I have been attending, serving, teaching and directing with this co-op for 8 years and Lord-willing for many, many more!

Jenny Boyd

I came into homeschooling after I pulled my son from public school. I am happy to be part of the Illuminate family and enjoy teaching classes here. I graduated from Calvin College with a degree in business and psychology and then went on to get my Masters at Aquinas in business management. I worked for several banks for a number of years before I purchased a dance studio and ran that for 11 years. Then I took a job at Magnify Church in the children's program and teaching dance in their worship department. I enjoy teaching dance, apologetics, physcology, history, and worldview.

Rachel Fotchman

We have 4 children attending Illuminate and this will be my 3rd year teaching here. We love the community aspect and have been homeschooling for 9 years. I believe that each student can enjoy art if given the opportunity to explore different mediums! I love to see a child take risks, learn a new discipline, and grow in confidence through creating.

Steve Adams

I've been impressed by the Apostle Paul's description of himself as a servant of Jesus Christ. That is my desire as well. For me, that sums up all that God sent His Son to accomplish. You see, in order to serve someone, that person whom you serve must be alive. So people may say they follow the teaching of..(Put any dead religious leader's name here) as a believer in Christ we have a relationship with Him. He's alive! My teaching style hopefully mirrors my walk with Him. I want students to enter into a relational experience with what is being taught and not just receiving facts. Facts are important but then what we do with them determines whether I've accomplished true teaching. I have a bachelor's degree from Cornerstone University. I've also taken apprenticeship courses for Tool & Die. Throughout my working career as a diemaker, tool room foreman, engineering manager, plant manager, or business owner, I've incorperated a teaching spirit throughout. My wife Ruth and I began attending Magnify Church in 1992. We have served in preschool ministries since then. Before that, since our marriage in 1974, we've served in other churches. Ruth lead nursery ministries and I have taught senior high and adult classes as well as serving on the deacon board. After reflecting on my life, teaching has been in just about everything I've done. I remember what my dad taught me. He said: "Son, you never stop learning. The moment you think you know it all, you're finished." Good advice to which I would add: "You can learn from anybody."
